Who we are

Flick is an app for iPhone and Android that sends photos, videos, files, text and links between your own phones. Contact: hello@atberth.com.

The short version

• Files, file names and text you send are end-to-end encrypted on your phone. Flick's servers can't read them.
• Copies held by the relay are deleted once every recipient has them, when a send is cancelled, or after 7 days at most.
• No ads, no advertising ID, no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.

Your account

You sign in with your email address and a 6-digit code sent to it. There are no passwords. Your email is used to sign you in and to connect the phones you sign in on.

What the service stores

To let your phones find each other and move files, Flick's backend stores:

• For each phone: the name you give it, platform, model name, app version, its public encryption key, when it was last seen, its local Wi-Fi IP address while it is on Wi-Fi (so your phones can connect directly), and on iPhone a push notification token.
• For each send: which of your phones sent it and to which, the number of items, total size, a type hint (photos, videos, files, mixed, text or link), progress, status, and whether it went over Wi-Fi or the relay.
• Encrypted content: the encrypted chunks of files while they are being relayed, and the encrypted file names and text. These are sealed with keys that only your phones hold.

Encryption

Each phone creates its own key pair; the private key never leaves the phone (iPhone Keychain, or protected by the Android Keystore). Every send gets a new random key, wrapped separately for each recipient phone, and content is encrypted with AES-256-GCM. On the same Wi-Fi, encrypted chunks go directly between your phones.

On your phones

Your transfer history is kept on each phone, not on the server. Received photos and videos are saved to your photo library (you can turn this off on iPhone) and to Flick's folder in Files or Downloads.

Permissions

• Local network — to send straight to your other phones on the same Wi-Fi.
• Photos — to save photos and videos your other phones send you, and to show previews of ones you send.
• Notifications — to tell you when something arrives.
• Android background service — to stay ready to receive files sent from your own devices.

Sharing

We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers. Data is processed by our hosting provider to run the service, and iPhone notifications are delivered through Apple's push notification service.

Retention and deletion

Relay copies are deleted as described above. Removing a phone in Settings deletes that phone's record. Delete account in Settings removes your account, your devices and anything still waiting in the cloud; files already saved on your phones stay. You can also email hello@atberth.com.

Children

Flick is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top will change. The latest version will always be at this URL.
